The Town of Cary is really pulling out all the stops for this July 4th weekend!
They’re starting the festivities early with an Independence Day Eve Celebration at the Cary Arts Center. Preshow starts at 6:30pm with Applause! Cary Youth Theatre, followed by the Cary Town Band at 7:30pm.
Then on the 4th, there’s the Independence Day Olde Time Celebration at Bond Park from 7:30am-3pm. Some of the highlights of this celebration include:
- Fishing Tournament: Registration starts at 8:30am at the Boathouse. Catch the lonngest or shortest fish in your age group and win a prize!
- Parade in the Park: Come and decorate your bike, stroller, wagon or yourself from 9:30-10:30am at the Kiwanis Shelter, then parade through the park starting at 10:30am.
- Several contests from 11a-3pm, including:
- Doughnut Eating Contest
- Water Balloon Toss
- Watermelon Eating Contest
But wait, the fun’s not over yet! Head on over to the July 4th Celebration at Koka Booth Amphitheatre for more 4ht of July fun. They’ll have magicians, facepainters, and more, including a 50 Foot Ferris Wheel! Gates open at 3pm. At 7:30pm, enjoy the NC Symphony, with fireworks immediately following the concert. You are allowed to bring lawn chairs, food and beverages, blankets, and small (no detachable lenses) cameras.
If you want to experience this event from a reserved seat and get a little fancy, 4-seat tables are available to reserve for $160. The table includes a complimentary preferred parking pass, one load of red, white and swirl bread from Great Harvest Bread Company, and 2 pints of Lumpy’s Ice Cream. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Amphitheatre Box Office.
All events are free (except for amusement rides) and open to the public. Cary knows how to do July 4th!
