4th of July: Apex

Historic Downtown Apex is hosting a great party for America’s birthday! There’s lot of fun for the little ones, and it starts early so they don’t get tuckered out.

The celebrations begin with the flag raising at 9am. From 9:15am to 11:50am, there are tons of activities, including street performers, karaoke, a cake walk, and more.

At 11:45am, the kids line up for Uncle Sam’s Parade of Wheels. This parade starts at noon at the corner of Salem and Chatham streets (get there early to save your place.) Children 12 and under should bring their bike, wagon, or other non-motorized vehicle in decorated patriotic colors to participate. (Don’t forget their helmets! They are required to participate in the parade.)

The fun ends at the Apex Fire Department’s Splash Down. The Splash Down starts at 12:30pm, and lets everyone cool down under the jets of the Apex Fire Department’s fire hose. It is located at the Apex Chamber of Commerce at 220 North Salem Street, beside Fire Station 1.

This event is rain or shine. The town of Apex does not have a fireworks show, but there’s many in the area to choose from, including Cary, Raleigh, and of course, Durham!

These fun, kid-focused events are a great reason to wander over to Apex, the peak of good living!
